📝 Overview

The Pipeline Liquid Holdup Calculator estimates the amount of liquid retained in a pipeline segment, supporting design and operational assessments for multiphase or shutdown scenarios. It is unit-flexible and flags when holdup exceeds normal operational limits.

🧾 Inputs

  • Pipeline Length: m, km, ft, mi (selectable)
  • Pipe Inside Diameter: mm, inches (selectable)
  • Liquid Height/Level: mm, inches, or fraction of pipe full (0–1)
  • Inclination Angle: (optional, for information only)
  • Design Code/Standard:
    • API RP 14E
    • ISO 13623
    • DNVGL-RP-F110
  • Output Volume Unit: m³, bbl, L, gal

🧮 Calculations

  • Converts all inputs to SI units internally.
  • For full or partial pipe, uses geometric formulas for cross-sectional area: V=AliqtimesLV = A_{liq} \\times LV=AliqtimesL Where AliqA_{liq}Aliq is the wetted area (including circular segment calculation for partial fill).
  • Flags a warning if liquid holdup exceeds 50% of the pipe height (potential slug risk).

📤 Outputs

  • Acceptance Status: ✅ (Normal holdup) or ⚠️ (High accumulation/slug risk)
  • Calculated Liquid Holdup Volume: In selected unit
  • Key Input Summary: (length, diameter, liquid level, % full)
