๐ Overview
The Hydrate Predictor estimates hydrate formation risk in gas pipelines using pressure, temperature, gas composition (or gravity), and a fast field-proven equation. It supports industry codes and lets you easily change units and standards, giving you a clear go/no-go risk message.
๐งพ Inputs
- Pipeline Pressure: bar, psi, MPa (selectable)
- Pipeline Temperature: ยฐC, ยฐF (selectable)
- Gas Composition: Methane, Ethane, Propane, COโ, Nโ (mole % each)
- OR Gas Gravity: Single value (auto-calculates typical dry/wet gas)
- Design Code/Standard:
- ISO 13623
- API RP 14E
- DNVGL-RP-F110
- Output Temperature Unit: ยฐC, ยฐF
๐งฎ Calculations
- Converts all values to SI units for calculation.
- Calculates hydrate formation temperature using the Hammerschmidt approximation: T_\\text{hyd} = 19.7 + 6.1 \\log_{10}(P) – 8.8 \\cdot G
- T: Hydrate temperature (ยฐC)
- PPP: Pressure (bar)
- GGG: Gas gravity (air = 1.0, typical natural gas: 0.55โ0.75)
- Compares pipeline operating temperature to hydrate formation temperature.
- Flags Hydrate Risk if operating temp is below the hydrate temp.
