📊Overview

The Corrosion Rate & Remaining Life Calculator estimates remaining pipeline service life and future wall thickness based on measured wall thickness, original wall, corrosion rate, and minimum allowable thickness.

🔢Inputs (with selectable units)

  • Original Wall Thickness (mm, in)
  • Measured Wall Thickness (mm, in)
  • Corrosion Rate (mm/year, mils/year)
  • Minimum Allowable Thickness (mm, in)
  • Output Time Unit (years, months)

🧮Calculation Logic

  • All thickness and corrosion rate values are internally converted to mm and mm/year.
  • Remaining Life is calculated as: Remaining Life=Measured Thickness−Min AllowableCorrosion Rate\text{Remaining Life} = \frac{\text{Measured Thickness} – \text{Min Allowable}}{\text{Corrosion Rate}}Remaining Life=Corrosion RateMeasured Thickness−Min Allowable
  • Time to zero thickness and projected wall thickness after 5 years are also calculated.
  • Results are shown in the user’s preferred output time unit and thickness units.

📤Outputs

  • Remaining life in years or months.
  • Time to zero wall.
  • Projected minimum wall after 5 years (mm, in).
