📊Overview
The Corrosion Rate & Remaining Life Calculator estimates remaining pipeline service life and future wall thickness based on measured wall thickness, original wall, corrosion rate, and minimum allowable thickness.
🔢Inputs (with selectable units)
- Original Wall Thickness (mm, in)
- Measured Wall Thickness (mm, in)
- Corrosion Rate (mm/year, mils/year)
- Minimum Allowable Thickness (mm, in)
- Output Time Unit (years, months)
🧮Calculation Logic
- All thickness and corrosion rate values are internally converted to mm and mm/year.
- Remaining Life is calculated as: Remaining Life=Measured Thickness−Min AllowableCorrosion Rate\text{Remaining Life} = \frac{\text{Measured Thickness} – \text{Min Allowable}}{\text{Corrosion Rate}}Remaining Life=Corrosion RateMeasured Thickness−Min Allowable
- Time to zero thickness and projected wall thickness after 5 years are also calculated.
- Results are shown in the user’s preferred output time unit and thickness units.
📤Outputs
- Remaining life in years or months.
- Time to zero wall.
- Projected minimum wall after 5 years (mm, in).
